Sumario:Availability of forage plant communities present in an altitudinal gradient of Cacheuta, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina, is analyzed. A total of 60 forage species represent 21.58 % of the local flora. Groups of forage species are determined from warm and dry lower species layers of Larrea cuneifolia and L. divaricata, from cold and humid higher species layers of Junellia scoparia, Colliguaja integerrima, and Nassauvia axillaris, and from humid meadows. Poa ligularis, Erodium cicutarium and Lycium chilense are accompanying species of wider ecological range. The communities of L. divaricata show great floristic rich-ness.Those of Agropyron mendocinum, Stipa tenuissima, Geoffroea decorticans, Atriplex lampa as well as those of humid meadows offer the major forage availability. A map of forage availability is included.
