Sumario:One of the central proposals of this work, as the title indicates, is to study the correlation between the formal and semantic configuration of the Venezuelan novel from the modernism and the process of formation ("bildung") that is expressed through the revelation of the conscience and the subjectivity of its main characters. I consider this correlation in some significant novels of the modernism and historical postmodernism in Venezuela: that is to say, in novels from José Gil Fortoul, Manuel Díaz Rodríguez, Rómulo Gallegos and Teresa de la Parra.
