Sumario:Adherence to medication and changes in lifestyle is defined as the process by which patients comply with the indications according to the prescribed. It is considered that a subject is adherent to the medication when it correctly takes between 80% and 100% of it. The lack of adherence is very frequent and particularly important in chronic and asymptomatic diseases such as hypertension, where it constitutes a critical factor in the inadequate control of BP. In Argentina, the adherence rate is less than 26%, and this non-adherence was associated with significant cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. However, prevalence estimates differ between studies with reported rates of only 3% and up to 65%. From the measurement through different methods, such as scales or pharmacological metabolites by means of HPLC, in this study, the degree of adherence to pharmacological treatment in patients with arterial hypertension in Argentina will be determined. The design of the study will be PROBE type (prospective, randomized, open, blinded for evaluator) to compare the long-term adherence of the measures of different pharmacological strategies in hypertensive patients.
