Sumario: | Angelo Beolco (Pernumia, Padua, 1502? - 1542), artistically known as Ruzante after the character he used to play, is probably the most important playwright in the Venetian area of the first half of the 16th century. In his work, largely written in Paduan dialect, the female characters seek, more than the love of the Petrarcheque tradition, precise ways to survive in a world of daily violence where women remain outside any possibility of free choice. The purpose of our work will be to show how Beolco presents the actions of some of his female protagonists in the context of the wars that ravaged the world of the Venetian peasants in the first decades of the sixteenth century. |
