Sumario:It will be analyzed how the Hispano-American sentimental texts in the readers function according to two ways to conceive the reception of these works: the reading in a “microenvironment” of lector/a sentimental-individual and the reading in a “macroenvironment” of several sentimental novel readers. Thus also, it is tried to fix the fundamental characteristics of the Hispano-American sentimental narrative to a representative text set of this literary modality. As well, this analysis mainly tries to be a “new vision” of texts enriched with the valuable aid of approaches from the “literary-cultural” (Lander, 2003), the “discursive” (Barthes, [1977] 2002) and the “sociological” (Giddens [ 1992 ] 2004). In this occasion only we will take care of the narrative of century XIX and corpus of works will be the following one: Soledad (1847) and Memorias de un botón de rosa (1847, reedited in 1907) by Bartolomé Mitre; Esther by Miguel Cané (1851); Martín Rivas (1862) by Alberto Blest Gana; Julia (1861) by Luis Benjamín Cisneros; La peregrinación de Bayoán (1861) by José María de Hostos; María (1867) by Jorge Isaacs; Clemencia (1869) by Ignacio Manuel Altamirano and Cumandá (1879) by Juan León Mera.
