Sumario:In order to determine the effect of the fruit load on fruit size and size distribution on clingstone peaches, a trial was done on Bowen, Andross and Ross. Trees in full production, trained Californian vase and planted at 6 by 5 m were used. Hand thinning was done 20 days after the beginning of pit hardening. The fruit load was established between 750 to 1350 fruits per tree in Bowen and Ross, and 850 to 1400 fruits per tree in Andross. Evaluations of final fruit size, total yield and yield destined to be halved for industrial proposes (YDH) were evaluated. In the three varieties, high correlation was established between fruit load, and the three evaluated parameters and similar answer was observed for different levels of fruit load. As increased the fruit load, increases in the total production were achieved, although the peso of fruits diminished. The production destined halves increased in relation with the load until reach maxima values with fruit loads of 1,150 fruits/tree. Above a critical value of fruit load, the YDH begin to decline. For the all range of used fruit load, the weight of fruits and the total production was bigger in Ross. This variety also achieved the maxima values of YDH. Andross overcame Bowen in the three evaluated parameters.
