Descripción
Sumario:Haimo of Auxerre wrote many biblical commentaries during de second half of the ninth century. He is a representative of the monastic carolingian intelectual elite and, therefore, his texts may be used to study a peculiar vision of the world and the society built up by the monastic fragment of the carolingia aristocracy. The understanding of the monastic thinking of the ninth century is essential to realize the great tenth century’s reforms (like the cluniac one) and by extension the reformist papacy of the eleventh century. The main objective of this paper is to study the way Haimo, using a prophetic biblical -the Book of Hosea-, text drew up the idea of royal subjection to the guide of an spiritual elite.
