Sumario:Being the memoirs a legendary genre, it must be admitted that its production and subsequent study have gained particular interest in the last three decades. Though many works about the possibilities of this genre can be found in Catamarca’ s literary production, these are limited to poetry or text, as Niñez en Catamarca by Gustavo Gabriel Levene. A distinctive aspect of this communication is likely to be the literary corpus conformed by the stories that integrate Los días iniciales (1933) of Jocelín Cerda Rodríguez, a writer whose work is unusual, due to its ethnic self assertion and the “self” textualization in the rebuilding of the personal and collective memory. It is interesting to investigate how the discourse builds up representations of personal memory, what are the traces of the enunciator, and what the relationship between the authorial “I” and the narrative “I” in narrative statements. It is also important to analyze the different discourse modalities of the genre displayed in the texts’ construction. Regarding this last aspect, it is relevant to consider the plan for writing stories and the intercalation of memories from childhood and youth, physical and moral portraits, character description, subjective evocation and storytelling itself. The intended approach fits into the theoretical and methodological framework provided by the Discourse Analysis (DA) and specifically, it follows the proposals of the Theory of Enunciation, Text’s Linguistics, and Literary Theory, from conceptual compatibilities that allow the integration of the different theoretical perspectives. Through this first approach to the literary universe of Joselín Cerda Rodríguez it is expected to demonstrate that the recovery and preservation of personal and collective memory, constitute the basis to determine the realization of a unique and infrequent vision.
