Sumario:Considered as "appropriate space", the territory is not only a support to shelter human groups and to offer resources to economic activities, but also an active matrix of social relations. From this point of view, territoriality turns out to be inseparable from power relations. Under this Iight, territorial configurations are the resultant of processes of territorialization and reterritorialization that are defined in the interplay of various actors taking part in the territory construction by imposing their aims, implementing their strategies and, finally, exercising their respective power quotas. One of the ways in which the power is expressed in the territory is the normalization process. It would be the case of a certain technology promoted globally by sectors of power, in which a specific notion of development is embedded. Promoting and adopting that technology is a way of modifying the territory configuration. From this interpretation, technologies offer valuable indications for understanding the mechanisms by which power determines social relations and materializes spaces. In this line of thinking, this work explores the ways in which the power is expressed in globalization and analyses some mechanisms by which it takes part in territorial organization.
