Sumario:Dentists who dedicate ourselves to the care of special patients know that dental technology is not the only thing we know, the handling of various situations related to disability make our task more complex to get to achieving oral health. We shall refer to one of those situations in particular could find the barrier for the development of communication, from sensory deprivation (visual or auditov) or motor or learning difficulties, which the patient presents. Communication need not be only through the spoken or written, we must know the existence of alternative communication systems (SAAC). The term augmentative communication describes the ways that people use to communicate when they cannot speak clearly enough, while alternative communication refers to communication methods used to completely replace speech.
