Sumario: | Campo de Carrizal's site (Hualfin Valley, Catamarca) consists of several rooms and structures
linked with tenaces cultivation and irrigation systems from Regional Development/Inka Period.
This paper presents the results of a techno-typological study of the chipped, polished and ground
lithic artifacts recovered from the site. Among the first we observe the use of local (sedimentary and
volcanic rocks and minerals) and nonlocal raw materials (volcanic rocks). The analysis showed that
they received a differential treatrnent, with obsidian, linked to the manufacture of projectile points,
intensively exploited. The only two polished artifacts are malachite beads (nonlocal resource) and
undifferentiated formatized artifact made fi-om a local siate. Finally, only immediately available and
local resources were used for ground stone, being feldespathic sandstone used for hands and granite
for mortars. |
