Sumario:The purpose of this essay is to analyze Caste Paintings from the 'Copernican revolution' in the history of art promoted by Warburg and Benjamin by proposing a mobile history, that is, a history that accepts changes both in which it looks at the images as society itself at different times. In this sense, Caste Paintings allow us to rethink the American baroque, the own voice within certain iconographic traditions such as the Holy Family, the discovery of a new mestizo society and, from the emotions, the history of the desire for the “piel quebrada”. In the complex relationship between art and society, Caste Paintings represent a fascinating challenge to explore from the history of images.
