Sumario:In the second half of the nineteenth century, the organization, deployment and consolidation of the Argentine state in the Pampas, led to different and prolonged conflict fronts. The definition of the political order, the frontier advance over the indigenous territories of Pampa and Norpatagonia as well as the international wars, resulted in a heavy militarization of the rural population. The following work analyze the social dimension of this phenomenon in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Specifically, it focuses on the effects, repercussions and tensions generated by the state demands of men for war, in the heterogeneous universe of domestic and capitalist units in rural areas.
