Based on the analysis of the case of San Miguel de Tucumán in the Intendence of Salta del Tucumán, it focus in the effective and daily exercise of domestic government through the process of representation and the exercise of the petition at the supralocal level. Studying the conflict between family networks and the struggle to increase their share of power manifested in obtaining new positions and in the expression of alternative relationships –with varying degrees. of interconnection - with the provisional government based in Buenos Aires, it concludes that they were not monolothics. Thus, it analyzes the relationships and interactions between various local agents, trying to understand the meaning of their sayings and behaviors in context. It pays attention to the particular situation of 1812 in which sovereignty went from being provisionally deposited to requiring a decision regarding its ownership. Sources used are published and unpublished documentary, preserved at the Archivo General de la Nación (Argentina) and the Academia Nacional de la Historia (Argentina) and had not been previously analyzed. Este artículo indaga sobre el papel de las repúblicas urbanas como agentes políticos claves en la reconfiguración territorial del poder y construcción de un orden supralocal. A partir del análisis del caso de San Miguel de Tucumán en la intendencia de Salta del Tucumán se recupera el ejercicio efectivo y cotidiano del gobierno doméstico a través del proceso de representación y el ejercicio de la petición a nivel supralocal. Propone que los pueblos no fueron comunidades corporativas monolíticas pues a través del conflicto entre sus redes familiares puede entreverse la ambición de éstas por aumentar su cuota de poder. Interés manifiesto en la obtención de cargos de revolucionarios y en la elaboración de alternativas de articulación –con diverso grado de interconexión - con el gobierno provisional con sede en Buenos Aires. Así, analiza las relaciones e interacciones entre agentes locales esforzándose por comprender los sentidos de sus dichos y comportamientos en contexto. Presta atención a la particular coyuntura de 1812 en que la soberanía pasaba de estar en depósito provisionalmente a requerir de la toma de decisión respecto de su titularidad. Recurre para ello a fuentes documentales editas e inéditas.
