Sumario:This article investigates the life of Gregorio Díaz, “Alcalde de la Hermandad” (judicial authority) of the Partido of Pergamino during the year 1792. Through various sources, not only his assumption of office but also the effective exercise of it was collated. However, the particularity of the case lies in its "natural" condition, as attested by a register carried out in the region in 1779, which makes it an interesting vantage point to examine these judicial agents of the campaign. Within the framework of the historiographic renewal of the Buenos Aires campaign, the approach to Díaz's personal history allows us to question and deepen our knowledge of the social profile of the rest of the same kind of authorities and outline the hypothesis that the position was not hegemonized by the more powerful economically and socially speaking of the locality in question.
