The local events are part of the puzzle of the complex story of the implementation of the Real Patronato Indiano and the European circumstances that resulted from the separation of the Kingdoms of Portugal and Spain. The conflict is resolved in the Praetorial Audiencia of Buenos Aires thanks to the intervention of the visitor Andrés de Rada, a Jesuit that was considered a good sailor of storms during disputes with bishops Palafox and Cárdenas.By applying the historiographic approach of microhistory (Levi, 1993), the events are depicted in detail in a documentary record titled “Sobre apostasía de ciertos Padres Jesuitas.” It is a text about everyday life in local history that exhibits the relationships between the Church and the colonial political power, the contradictions within the regulatory system, and the social solidarity. This assessment tool presents subjects of traditional history with a local variant, incorporating bibliographies and diverse social circumstances. This approach to the sources aims to provide a clearer view of the society in Cordoba in the rarely addressed XVII century.
