Sumario:This paper studies the characterization techniques in the novel El rastro de la canela by Liliana Bodoc; and analyzes the impact of these characters on the identification or differentiation that the text promotes in the reader. The presentation of the set of character features reveals the implicit author of the work and his intentions regarding the relationship that the readers will later establish with the characters. Focusing on the character and the perspective categories helps to understand why the reader may feel like towards some characters or dislike towards some others. The analysis of these aspects will show how the novel treats the subject of liberty.
