The following article tries to rescue and systematize some of his ideas, true pivots for the professional task from his particular geographical vision. La trayectoria de Ricardo G. Capitanelli dejó huellas imborrables en la formación profesional de sus alumnos y discípulos, y quedó registrada en una magistral obra centrada tanto en el campo de la teoría como en la ciencia aplicada. Sus aportes e ideas perduran con vigorosa vigencia y pueden ser valorados como principios que contribuyen a fortalecer la geografía a la vez de esclarecer cuestiones que preocupan al geógrafo de hoy.
