To do this, I will focus on themeaning that the bow and its loss have for the hero and, also, on theapostrophes that express his new relationship with the surroundingenvironment. Filoctetes de Sófocles es la tragedia de un hombre llevado hasta el límitede su propia condición humana en medio de un total abandono. En esteartículo pretendo mostrar por qué podemos pensar que el héroe epónimode esta tragedia sufre una metamorfosis de acuerdo con la cual deja deser, en sentido propio, un ser humano y asume de manera consciente supropia animalidad. Para ello me centro en el significado que tienen elarco y su pérdida para el héroe y en las apóstrofes a través de las queexpresa su nueva relación con el entorno natural que lo rodea.
