Sumario:This article studies the image of Circe in Lope de Vega´s theatre and its intrinsic relationship with love and the way lovers transform intoanimals. Based on a corpus made of theatre plays that vary between the pastoral and the urban genre -this is, between realities that are locatednear and far away from the farmyard audience- this analysis will evidence a frequent use of the image, and the similar function the classic figure has in different comedies. Moreover, its relation with magic and the power of seduction is also taken into account.
