Sumario:This article starts from the “Escape and Massacre of Trelew” (August 1972); But but it focuses in the theachers struggle of the region (1969-1972), in the context of the National plan fight lead by the Acuerdo de Nucleamientos Docentes. The link between both situations will be the presence of Mario Abel Amaya (teacher, member of the Association of Lawyers, leader of the UCR and president of the recently constituted Association of Teachers of the East of Chubut) at the Trelew airport at the time of the escape of political prisoners from the U6 prison in Rawson. Due to his mediation with the repressive forces to guarantee the peaceful surrender of the 19 fugitive, he was accused of complicity and detained by the dictatorship; until the popular mobilization of "Trelewazo", got his freedom three months later. From there we will analyze the unity that is being forged between the teaching sectors and the increase in their combativeness, in the context of the first act of state terrorism; the figure of Amaya and his relationships will allow to interweave weave the political and economic struggles of the region.
