In this sense, it seeks to analyze the multiple influences, both Hispano-American and European, which acted on the formation of this composite concept. Secondly, it investigates how, in pan-Latin terms, a country in particular at a particular time, Italy during the 1920 decade, greatly incorporates the expression to help its rapprochement to the southern part of the American continent. Este artigo pretende, por um lado, contribuir com os debates acadêmicos a propósito das ocorrências histórico-intelectuais que levaram a agregação de duasterminologias, América e Latina, a ponto de se tornar essa expressão, a forma geopolítica mais consagrada para se reportar à região. Neste sentido, busca analisar as múltiplas influências, tanto hispano-americanas, quanto europeias, que atuaram na formação desse conceito compósito. Por outro lado, o artigo investiga como, em termos panlatinos, um país em especial e em determinada época, a Itália dos anos de 1920, incorpora sobremaneira a expressão para auxiliar em sua aproximação com a porção sul do continente americano.
