The chosen case is the presentation of the book “The New Latin America” by Fernando Calderón and Manuel Castells, held via Zoom in December, 2020, organized by a new Latinx and Latin American Studies Center of the University of South California, United States. In addition, questions are raised about how Latin America is studied as a cohesive analytical unit which is constantly changing. Este ensayo despliega problemáticas y experiencias del quehacer académico en pandemia, vinculadas a las instituciones que definen la producción de conocimiento científico, al acceso a materiales de investigación como libros y a la participación en eventos virtuales. El caso elegido es la presentación del libro “La Nueva América Latina” de Fernando Calderón y Manuel Castells, realizada vía Zoom en diciembre de 2020, organizado por el Centro de Latinxs y Estudios Latinoamericanos de la Universidad del Sur de California de Estados Unidos. Además, se establecen interrogantes sobre cómo se estudia América Latina como unidad analítica cohesiva y a la vez cambiante.
