Sumario:The massive movement of refugees seeking to enter Europe in the last few years pose a challenge to the continent’s states to which they are far from finding a satisfactory response. Leaving a side the relevant economic and material aspects of the phenomenon, on this essay we will focus on its sociocultural effects. Specifically, drawing from the work of Charles Taylor, we present the thesis that the living conditions of the refugees and the attitude of the receiving communities towards them may cause additional damage by projecting a false recognition of the individual and collective identity of the migrants. This makes it all the more pressing to face the question of the different policy models oriented to the recognition and integration of culturally heterogeneous groups.
