They form a 'utopia' in the sense they are accepted as technical or colloquial terms without the awareness of their origin. Byzantium might have been Roman but not Latin: Latin resides in Byzantium as an exiled. Se investiga sobre los latinismos incorporados al léxico bizantino, en distintos momentos, y sobre el modo y alcance de su aceptación entre eruditos y entre el pueblo amplio. Constituyen una 'utopía' en el sentido de que se los acepta como tecnicismos o como coloquialismos sin conciencia de su origen. Bizancio pudo ser romano pero no latino: el latín reside en él como un exiliado.
