Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this article is to analyse the construction made of the Saint of Assisi in reference to the disciplinary aspect of his life, in the work that was for a long time the sole official hagiography of the Saint: Legenda Maior by Saint Bonaventure. The purpose of this writing is to go deep into what for the poverello could – or could not- imply a punishment and how the correction device worked. Likewise, a dialogue with previous hagiographies will be established so as to enlighten the analiysis. In this article, hagiographies are considered as tools with a pedagogical and a performative function. Moreover, analysing the act of enunciation is also thinking about the tensions in the construction of the discipline and coercion, and, logically, about the power of the Order.
