Descripción
Sumario:This article analyzes some ways in which recyclable waste collectors have been classified by different sources. The methodology used was based on the analysis of sources of information, such as International Labor Organization documents and their adaptations in certain countries (Argentina, Brazil and Colombia), the latest technical report of the Latin American initiative for the promotion of inclusive recycling, debates by parliamentarians from the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and academic studies on waste collectors in the same city.  This paper is structured in two sections that explore some notions that refer to the different types of waste collectors, first, in international and national documents, and then, in the academic field. The purpose of this article is to appreciate how the classifications used homogenize different types of subjects, based on constructions that attribute different deficiencies and potentialities to them, and in doing so, define desirable profiles of interventions from public policies towards the sector in which they participate.
