description	In Argentina, the nexus between health and hygiene dates back to the 19th century, at the beginning of Nation Sate consolidation, today this nexus is unquestionable. It is striking that in this nexus, the garbage, as an environmental problem of governmental responsibility, continues to be a forgotten dimension. This problem is aggravated in the current Covid19 pandemic. To contribute to unravel this "forgetfulness", here we address two dimensions of a problem that the pandemic shows us with eloquence: 1) the increase in single-use plastics and 2) the work of garbage collectors. Basically, the debate is framed into the political ecology and critical ecology, where the garbage crisis is considered the "mirror" of productive models, distribution and social injustice, expressed in the logic of the double exploitation of nature and work. While recognizing that the health crisis demands the incorporation of transdisciplinary perspectives, which would allow us to address the socio-environmental complexity, where the natural, the social and the political overlap.

En Argentina, el nexo entre salud e higiene se remonta al siglo XIX, los albores de la consolidación del Estado-Nación, y hoy es algo incuestionable. Pero llama la atención que en ese nexo la basura, como problema ambiental, de responsabilidad social y gubernamental, sigue siendo una dimensión perdida, olvidada. Esta problemática se agrava en el contexto de la actual pandemia de Covid19. Para aportar al debate y comenzar a desandar este "olvido", aquí abordamos dos dimensiones de un problema que la pandemia nos arroja a la cara con total elocuencia: 1) el aumento de plásticos de un solo uso y 2) el trabajo de los recolectores de basura. Dos dimensiones estrechamente relacionadas, pero "esencialmente" invisibilizadas. Principalmente, el debate se encuadra en enfoques provenientes de la ecología política y la ecología crítica, donde la crisis de la basura es considerara el "espejo" de modelos productivos, de distribución e injusticia social, expresado en las lógicas de una doble explotación de la naturaleza y el trabajo. Sin dejar de reconocer que la crisis sanitaria demanda la incorporación de miradas transdisciplinarias, que nos permitirán acercarnos a la complejidad socioambiental, donde lo natural, lo social y lo político se superponen. Na Argentina, o nexo entre saúde e higiene remonta ao século XIX, início da consolidação do Estado-nação, e hoje é indiscutível. Mas é surpreendente que, nesse nexo, o lixo, como problema de responsabilidade ambiental, social e governamental, continue sendo uma dimensão perdida, esquecida. Este problema é agravado no contexto da atual pandemia Covid19. Para contribuir com o debate e começar a desvendar esse "esquecimento", aqui abordamos duas dimensões de um problema que a pandemia nos lança com total eloqüência: 1) o aumento do plástico descartável e 2) o trabalho dos catadores de lixo. Duas dimensões intimamente relacionadas, mas "essencialmente" invisíveis. Principalmente, o debate se enquadra nas abordagens da ecologia política e da ecologia crítica, onde a crise do lixo é considerada o "espelho" dos modelos produtivos, da distribuição e da injustiça social, expressa na lógica de uma dupla exploração do natureza e trabalho. Embora reconhecendo que a crise da saúde exige a incorporação de olhares transdisciplinares, o que nos permitirá abordar a complexidade socioambiental, onde o natural, o social e o político se sobrepõem.
