Sumario:This paper shows the partial results of two studies about metropolitan urban growth in two Mexican cities: Aguascalientes and Mexico City. Its aim is to demonstrate the relevance of experience-based learning through an analytical approach of the peripheral urbanization process. The theoretical-methodology is based on two analytical categories, territorial confusion, and asymmetric territorial configuration. These are proposed to understand peripheral urban phenomenon, highlighting the importance of problems such as capitalist appropriation, irregularity, and unequal urban expansion, and real estate speculation. Different kinds of people are part of this process improved by the government, making this kind of problem. The two categories proposed allow us to identify some considerations for analyzing peripheral urbanization in Mexican cities.
