Sumario:La Plata’s urban growth in the last couple of decades has been dominated by speculation processes which gave place to the densification of the central area of the city, the urbanization of green spaces and riverside banks, and the expulsion of vulnerable people towards marginal and environmentally fragile areas. As a result of the flood of 2013, numerous people died, and thousand others were affected with millionaire losses. This event led to the creation of several social movements claiming for justice. The aim of this paper is to present the environmental conflict that started with the April’s 2013 flood in La Plata, Argentina, in order to identify the demands and strategies deployed by the people affected by the flood within a context of expanding urban extractivism. In terms of methodology, the research consisted on the analysis of specific bibliography, digital news and territorial planning regulations. Moreover, semi-structurated interviews were made to key informants and participatory observation took place in the mobilization made due to the ninth anniversary of the event.
