Sumario:In this work, the common places used in Aníbal's harangue in book XXI of Livio's “Ab urbe condita” will be analyzed, as well as in Hernán Cortés's speech in Veracruz in the Fifth Book of “De Orbe Novo” By the Cordovan author. The reasoning or arguments that both leaders pronounce follow the common loci established by Rhetoric, which in this type of discourse focuses on presenting the battle as something necessarium, utile, possibile, facile and iustum.
