Those who have recognized the need to set relevant concepts addressing the descriptive analysis of languages, also assume that this work has not yet been reflected into results generally accorded. In this context, the determination of the structures of thought that underlie linguistic expression takes its own place. Since nowadays the issue is attended even from sign languages, it seems appropriate to make an efficient proposal for the analysis, regardless of the code in question. To achieve this, we will start from the Speculative Grammar as historical precedent and critically analyze significant proposals from Hispanic Linguistics. Muchas han sido las reflexiones que se han realizado con respecto a la posibilidad de especificar los elementos constitutivos de la llamada gramática universal. Quienes han reconocido la necesidad de establecer conceptos útiles a la hora de abordar el análisis descriptivo de las lenguas asumen igualmente que dicha labor aún no se ha traducido en resultados consensuados de forma general. En este marco, la determinación de las estructuras de pensamiento que subyacen a la expresión lingüística ocupa un lugar destacado. Dado que la cuestión se aborda en la actualidad incluso desde las lenguas de signos, parece oportuno realizar una propuesta eficaz para el análisis independientemente del tipo de código de que se trate. Para lograrlo, partiremos de la Gramática Especulativa como precedente histórico y analizaremos de forma crítica propuestas significativas formuladas desde el ámbito de la lingüística hispánica.
