Sumario:In this paper we are interested in studying the use of causal constructions by participants in colloquial conversations. First, even though we will consider the controversial grammatical status of these structures, we will examine how the selection of a linguistic form can offer information about its discursive and interactive functions in a game of intersubjectivity (Huelva Unterbäumen, 2013b). As Montolío (1996) states, the position of such clauses is relevant to their interpretation and apparently respond to certain pragmatic criteria on which speakers organize their interventions. In the cases analyzed, causal constructions seem to fulfill various discursive functions, far from expressing a real cause, in relation to the speaker’s greater expressiveness together with the consideration of the interlocutor’s intelligibility. In short, the function of these clauses cannot be considered without taking into account the dynamic contexts in which they are integrated.
