Orders Body Spirit Heart The main purpose of this work is to clarify how the philosopher Blaise Pascal composes the theme of the three orders of things – body, spirit and heart – in fragments 308 and 933 of his work Pensées. My hypothesis is that there is a very strong influence from the readings of the books Discurso da reforma do homem interior, from Cornelius Jansenius, and Discurso do Método, from René Descartes. Therefore, in order to achieve my goal, I propose the following itinerary: to present the art of detecting vanities in Jansenius’ thought and the stages of the Cartesian method, in order to present the influence of these works in the thought of Blaise Pascal. O principal objetivo deste trabalho é esclarecer como o filósofo Blaise Pascal compõe o tema das três ordens de coisas – corpo, espírito e coração – nos fragmentos 308 e 933 dos Pensées. Minha hipótese é que há uma influência fortíssima das leituras do Discurso da reforma do homem interior, de Cornelius Jansenius, e do Discurso do Método, de René Descartes. Portanto, a fim de cumpri-la com êxito, postulo o seguinte itinerário: apresentar a arte de detectar vaidades presente no pensamento de Jansenius e as etapas do método cartesiano, para enfim refletir a infuência destas obras no pensamento de Blaise Pascal.
