| Sumario: | The article analyzes the reasons for the migration of South American transvestites / trans who reside in the AMBA during the period 2017-2019. Due to the various types of violence and discrimination that they experience in their societies of origin and that are linked to the impossibility of realizing their gender identities, they move to other environments. The reasons for migrating combine cultural and economic aspects of migratory chains and access to rights in order to access different capitals and improve one's position in the social space. In accordance with a qualitative methodology and using the underlying theory and ethnography, interviews and participant observations were applied, being able to develop a theoretical sample that included 41 cases. It was found that the AMBA, far from being free of tensions, allows the interviewees to increase their financial resources, access university studies, health care and request registration rectification. |
