Sumario:An analysis of the labor market for young graduates of economic sciences in San Rafael (Mendoza, Argentina) is carried out through a questionnaire survey. With respect to the competencies (specific and generic) that employers require, there is no significant gap with those acquired by graduates in their university education. The differences detected are not the cause of difficulties in obtaining employment. In relation to the level of qualification of graduates, there is also no significant gap: employers consider that graduates are adequately qualified. No differences in the employability of socio-demographic variables are detected. Finally, it is observed that in the employers' requirements, generic competences predominate, such as the ability to solve problems, continuous learning, the ability to work in teams and to interact with other people, in addition to ethics and commitment to work.
