Sumario:A modification of the procedure of Vega and Palleroni for the estimation of alcohol in wines is proposed. It permits the quantitative determination of amounts of alcohol ranging from 2.5 and 6.5 micromoloes (0.11 and 0.30 mg. of alcohol) in a 0.1 ml. sample. The method has been used for the estimation of ethanol in the final mixture coming from manometric experiments per formed with the conventional Warburg technique and also, to the determination of alcohol in blood. The procedure has satisfied the requirements of the respective cases, and it is recommended for the determinations of ethanol in liquids of low alcoholic content.
