Sumario: | A photocolorimetric procedure for the estimation of ethanol in wines is described. The change in color of potassium dichromate in acid olution after reduction is measured with a photoelectric colorimeter. The reaction flask described permits the destillation of the alcohol and the direct colorimetric measurement.
Sulphur dioxide does not interfere with the result obtained and therefore, the neutralization of the sample is not necessary.
The acetic acid content of the wine does not have any influence on the alcohol determination as expected.
The method is very simple and has a satisfactory degree of accuracy. |
