Sumario:The article analyzes the impact of the Mexican film Presunto Culpable (Roberto Hernández and Geoffrey Smith, 2011), which narrates the irregularities of the penal system. Given the social impact of the films, which became the most watched documentary in the history of Mexican cinema, its polyfunctionality character was staged and emerged as a central characteristic of the political documentary. The impact of the film on the artistic and extra-artistic sphere leads to rethinking the place of the device and its effect of reality and truth on the audience. The question we arrive at is what is the place of the aesthetic in the political?
