Descripción
Sumario:In this paper, we investigate community based tourism as a tourist modality that is promoted from public policies aiming to foster the participation of local communities in the socio-economic development of their territories. In particular, we consider how heritage – and the “expert’s voice" - are built and contested from the experiences of rural and community-based tourism. To do this, we consider cases in the province of Santa Fe and Jujuy, based on the field work carried out between 2019 and 2020, with participant observation, interviews, files consultation and tourist materials. As a result, we observe how communities express their needs and interests, acquire a voice to negotiate the conformation and activation of their cultural heritage. In this process, the actors involved expressed tensions over heritage, tourism and territorial development.
