Sumario:The purpose of this article is to highlight one of the most prolific thinkers of Philosophy in Uruguay in the second half of the last century: Mario A. Silva García. To do this, we will highlight how he made possible, thanks to his teaching at the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, the Heideggerian reception in Uruguay at the end of the forties and beginning of the fifties. Said record coincides with the creation of the Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, and the Philosophy courses that were provided in said Faculty, Silva García being an authentic exponent in the phenomenological reception of those years. Indeed, the different authors and texts in which said reception will be underlined correspond to the strength that Phenomenology had since the forties. In this context, it will be necessary to highlight two fundamental registers that make up the way in which the university professor reads Heidegger at the beginning of the fifties. In the first place, the records of the courses provided by the professor between 1950 and 1951, which we found in the Central Archive of the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences. Secondly, the publication "On the notion of foundation and principle", which corresponded to the Logic course of 1949. In this way, it will be possible to observe the importance of Professor Silva García's teaching, enabling his impressive intellectual production.
