Sumario:The transposition of best-sellers to series is an increasingly frequent practice in the national and international industry. This study analyzes the novel and the mini-series that were made based on La Plaza del Diamante (1983), highlighting their place in the Spanish literary and audiovisual field, not only because of the great public success they obtained but also because they treated the subject of the Spanish Civil War and the Post-War on the small screen from a different perspective. Mercè Rodoreda's work gives us a symbolic, human and feminine view of these events, while the series captures their dark and repressive character. The article discusses the main similarities and differences between the text and the adaptation to analyze whether the latter introduced significant changes.
