Sumario: | After analyzing the main attributes that Xenophon, who lived from 430 to 354 BC, assigned to several of its protagonists, it is possible to find recurring elements that allow delineate the profile of the exemplary leader, In the Cyropedia, the historian points out how King Croesus transmitted to Cyrus the Elder the teachings of his encounter with Solon. This story has a pedagogical function, because it allows to identify the essential characteristics that the good leader must possess, whose model is Ciro. It should be noted that the writer is aware that not everyone is worthy to exercise command, since for him the lineage and wealth occupy a secondary place, the fundamental thing is virtuous behavior. In order to demonstrate the above, I divide this exhibition into three parts: for the first two, my main source is Herodotus, and for the last one I rely on the Xylophon's Cyropedia. |
