Furthermore, in the paratactic correlative structures that express a substitute relationship, the first coordinated element, which is in thematic position, is constituted by the cancellation of something that has already become part of the "universe of discourse", which results as co(n)textually given (§1): therefore, the substitutive is an inherently dialogical-polyphonic semantic-conceptual relation, that is, a type of construct in which the sender takes up, even to refute and correct them, the thought and voice of another issuer (§4). Lo scopo di questo articolo è descrivere – in modo che non si pretende certo esaustivo – una micro-area della grammatica italiana, concentrando l’attenzione sul ruolo dei due connettori ma e bensì nell’espressione delle relazioni semantico-concettuali avversative e sostitutive: la congiunzione coordinante ma (nei costrutti sostitutivi come ripresa anaforica in correlazione con una negazione "polemica" nel ruolo di anticipatore cataforico) si trova in entrambi i tipi di costrutto a partire dalla lingua delle Origini (§1, §2 e §3.2), mentre nell’italiano contemporaneo il connettore avverbiale bensì si trova soltanto come ripresa anaforica sostitutiva (§3.1), con un valore documentato già nella seconda metà del ’600 – benché dalla prima metà dello stesso secolo fino agli inizi del ’900 se ne trovino anche sporadiche testimonianze in senso avversativo (§3.2). Inoltre nelle strutture correlative paratattiche che esprimono una relazione sostitutiva il primo elemento coordinato, quello in posizione tematica, è costituito dalla cancellazione di qualcosa di già entrato a far parte dell’"universo di discorso", che risulta co(n)testualmente given (§1): quindi quella sostitutiva è una relazione semantico-concettuale inerentemente dialogico-polifonica, cioè di un tipo di costrutto nel quale il mittente riprende, sia pur per refutarli e correggerli, il pensiero e la voce di qualcun altro (§4).
