Motocor: compilación de un corpus técnico paralelo bilingüe (inglés-español) y su aplicación en la traducción directa de un texto sobre automoción

Sumario:The use of virtual corpora as a translation tool has been shown to offer numerous benefits (Bokwer 2002; Zanettin et al., 2003; Bernardini 2015; Seghiri 2012a, 2017), since it allows the extraction of conceptual information from a single resource being that terminological, stylistic or grammatical. The aim of this paper is to present a protocolized methodology for the compilation of MOTOCOR, a virtual, parallel and bilingual corpus (English-Spanish), representative from a qualitative and quantitative standpoint, in order to subsequently apply it in the Spanish translation of a fragment of technical text corresponding to the textual genre of motorcycle user manuals. Specifically, the exploitation through the corpus management tool Sketch Engine has allowed us to solve terminological, phraseological, as well as grammatical difficulties. In short, the use of this parallel corpus has facilitated the translation and documentary process, allowing us to offer high-quality translations based on real texts of the same genre.
